Your Net Worth=Your Network

While I’ve enjoyed success in my business this year, I have noticed that making one small change above all else has produced dramatic results over the past six months. And the sad thing is that it’s been super simple to implement. Wanna know my secret?
I left my house.
It sounds silly doesn’t it? But this has been a MAJOR move for me. This is coming from someone who LOVES to snuggle up my bed with my laptop and Pandora blasting in the background. (BTW, don’t you just LOVE Pandora??? It’s psychic!). I decided to stop saying “no” to social and business invitations and open myself up to meeting new people.
(1) I attended more business conferences and networking opportunities.
In August, I attended Tory Johnson’s Spark & Hustle conference.
I was unsure about attending but my friend Shameeka insisted it would be worth it. And while the conference was great (you should definitely check it out when it comes to a city near you), what I really walked away with was an unbelievable network of women business owners and an awesome support system. Several of us formed a Mastermind group and we meet monthly to check in on each other’s businesses, brainstorm, give advice, and when all of the business stuff is done, have some great laughs!!
I also took advantage of another opportunity to meet my favorite business coach, Fabienne Frederickson. Fabienne’s coaching has transformed my business beyond belief. And this time, instead of going alone, I brought one of my clients with me. Her entire view of her business changed in one night.
(2) I invited people that I wanted to meet out to lunch.
One day, after spending a few hours on Twitter, I invited one of my Twitter peeps, Marian, (@HauteTravels), to have lunch with me IRL (in real life, as we say on Twitter). That meeting has led to SO many fantastic lunches, dinners, shows, telephone chats, and even a business building opportunity that would have never materialized had I not invited her out for lunch. And now I don’t only consider Marian a great resource but I’m happy to call her my friend.
They say, that you are the average of your five closest friends. Uplevel your friends and you uplevel your life. So, the next time you get an invitation to get out of the house, take it! You never know when you will meet the person that will be the key to making your future brighter.

Great read. This exactly what I’ve seen saying lately. I’m going to have to get out of my house.
This is such great advice. I’ve totally enjoyed your coaching advice and your friendship. I’m so excited about so many things in the works for 2011 and thanks to you; I’m taking more risks (ok outside the box)! Lol Just think one call has made all the difference. As I’ve heard Producer Will Packer say… you never know when your networks will bear fruit and with your friendship I’m excited about the journey ahead!
This blog was CONFIRMATION for me!! I appreciate you sharing your tips with us.

Excellent advise Monique! I have done the same- get out of the house and face my fears head on! I plan to take more calculated risks in 2011! So happy you are in my life lady! Now back to baking.
I am sooooooo proud that you stepped beyond your comfort zone and are making tremendous strides. Am I surprised? Absolutely not. Build that empire, girl!
