Huge Giveaway!!

So, if you have read my blog in the past, you know that I had a profound experience last year – I attended the Spark and Hustle conference hosted by Tory Johnson.  I was so moved by the experience that I wrote two posts about it.  You can find them here and here!  After attending Spark and Hustle, my business exploded.

So when Tory announced that she would be making Spark and Hustle an annual event, I knew I had to be there.

So naturally, I purchased a ticket as soon as it was announced.  All year, I’ve been very excited about attending the conference, anxious to see how my business would change this year as it did last year.  But alas, fate had other plans:

So as you can see, I’m pregnant and my due date, as luck would have it, is days away from the Spark and Hustle conference, which takes place July 21-23.  While I would love to be there, I just don’t want the excitement of it all to cause me to give birth while Tory is giving one of her rousing presentations! :-)

So my blessing (my baby boy) is your blessing.  At the end of this month, I will be giving away my ticket to the Spark & Hustle conference. Yes, giving it away…for free!  That’s nearly a $500 value.  As I mentioned, ALL of the cool kids will be there, if you play your cards right, you could be on TV (Tory has featured several S&H attendees on Good Morning America), and people WILL be talking about it for days and weeks to come (just do a search on Twitter to see for yourself)!

So how do you win the free ticket?  Simply enter the reason why you would like to attend the conference in the comments section of this post.  The winner will be announced on June 15th, leaving enough time for out of town winners to make travel plans.

I didn’t know you were w/child CONGRATS! Look forward to speaking w/you tomorrow. I don’t think I can make the CRAVE event tonight.

Good Luck to all who enter the contest!!

  2. Niki McNeill says:

First of all, congrats on your blessing!! That is so exciting and you look amazing :-)

I have been trying to find a way to attend Spark & Hustle ever since I heard the da ere Jews from attendees last year. I have no doubt that it will be just as transformative this year and I so want to be in the mix! You see, even though I’m only 26 years old, I absolutely know without a doubt that no JOB will truly satisfy me. I’m a product of two entrepreneurs and I truly think it’s in my blood. I want to do whatever I can to make sure that I can succeed as a business owner & continue to grow so that I never have to go “back to the cube”!

The timing of this conference is right on time for me also as I started my company in June 2010 and I’m reflecting on my first year. I was working full time up until March of this year, and although I’m happy I made the leap – investing $500 in this conference hasn’t quite been in the budget yet!

I really hope you pick me, but I’ll say I’m so impressed and happy that you’re giving someone a chance to attend such a fab conference!

  3. Congratulations on your baby boy!! What a great way to give back. Spark and Hustle is a GREAT inspiration and it is wonderful of you to give the chance of a lifetime.

The grand finale is sure to be a BLAST! I would love to attend. I can’t express how much I enjoyed the inspiration I felt and the wonderful BBFs I made at the Orlando convention! It turned me into who I want to be. I strong, confident and most of all a “go getter”! I have seen almost instant results with the information I took away with me. That is what I love about Spark and Hustle and would love the experience of the finale if given the chance.

  4. Amy Speed says:

Congratulations on your bundle of joy!! How exciting!!

What a way to pay it forward! I love!

I had the great pleasure of attending Spark and Hustle in Chicago this year. What an amazing conference it was. When I heard the about the reunion in Atlanta, I HAD to be there. But I have yet to find a way to afford to go.

Why would I like to attend? It was unbelievable. The people I met, who willingly offered ideas, praise and hugs were spectacular. I just can’t even describe the feeling I had there and all the energy that was in that conference room. I still have so many ideas in my head to get down on paper and start to implement.

The real reason I want to go back? I was too scared to go up and talk to Tory Johnson. How crazy is that? I didn’t have enough confidence in myself to go up, introduce myself and tell her thank you. I want another chance.

    Thanks for listening!!

  5. Congrats on the wonderful bundle that you are expecting! May God Bless you and your son!

Hmmm, why would I like to attend the Spark & Hustle Conference? I have a very close friend, Delmar Johnson, HR Brain For Hire, who has done nothing but talk about all the wonderful women she met at the Spark & Hustle in TX. I was suppose to attend with her, however, due to a personal situation, I was unable to attend. I listen to her talk about it EVERY chance she gets and I know that it was an event that I should have been front and center. During the last serveral months, I have made every attempt possible to raise the money needed for the ticket and transportation, and it has been a struggle for me. I know that I will eventually get there, however I would love to make it there this year. I’m certain every woman that will respond deserves to attend, for me it’s more than that…it’s about being able to finally make a change in my business that after 4 years of struggling would give me the edge and motivation I need to continue to push forward!

Whomever receives the ticket will be truly Blessed!

  6. Epic. Make those entries good, y’all!

  7. Hi,

Congrats on your new bundle. I would like to be able to go to spark and hustle. A little about my story I am a single mother that was laid off in 2010. I turned what was then my hobby into a business of saving people money. I am making money but want to take my business to the next level so that I can save for a car as I don’t have one or live on the bus line. I would be honored to go in your place and I promise it would not be wasted as I have tried everything to go including applying for the scholarship that Troy has but all to no avail. Please consider me for this opportunity.

  8. I simply want to congratulate you on making it possible for someone else to be blessed. The best knowledge is knowledge worth sharing. Spark and Hustle is truly that…knowledge worth sharing. May your new baby come knowing his mom is making room for great generosity in his life. What we give is what we receive! Congrats again!

  9. Congrats!!! You will love every moment of it.

I attended last year and it was amazing to met women who knew what they wanted and had decided to go after it. After leaving last year I worked but didn’t find my self making the leaps I wanted so I decided to make a full stop on my initial endeavor of making jewelry for profit and do it for fun until I found what made me want to push beyond my limits. Well after a few crappy and overwhelming days in December I came home and baked until my knees were weak (i was sooo happy) and then I gave it all away, then people asked me if I would make the holiday rum cakes (my specialty) well I did and it went over very well.

I did some research and found that people loved what I was doing enough to pay for it. Now fast forward to the 5 day business plan project that Tory did which lit my fire for real and all the fear I had I used it to make calls and taking test and in 3 weeks I had all the certifications needed to open my business and I have been baking nonstop for over a month and a half and I’m not slowing down. I would love to come back because I didnt get it right the first time, I wasn’t clear on my destination but now I am and as long as I learned from the things I didn’t do, it allows me to do this. I am so ready to share my drunken cupcake fetish with world because I think they are that good!

Congratulations on this blessed event. My son has brought me more joy than I could have ever imagined.

Why should I win the tickets? Here is the nuts & bolts of the product: My sister and I invented, patented and manufacture a stylish and useful product that aids in our quest for organization and our need to be safe. How can one product do all that you might ask. Charming KEYper is the only product on the market today that can keep help you put your hands on your keys and your cell phone quickly and easily. Just attach your keys and cell phone. Toss them in your bag. Let the stylish strap with our beautiful charm dangle outside your purse. Next time you need your keys or phone simply grab hold of your KEYper and pull them out from the bottomless pit we like to call a purse. KEYper keeps your keys, keeps your phone and keeps you safe. The No.2 most dangerous place for women is a parking lot. Safety experts urge us to always have our keys at hand to quickly access our cars our to use them as a aid in self defense.

Now here’s the personal story behind the invention: While living in Texas I took my two young children (4 & 2) to the local mall. In the parking lot I encountered an extremely unsavory man driving around the parking lot looking for ???? I went into protection mode. Unfortunately between the stroller, diaper bag, purse and shopping bags, getting at my keys quickly was impossible. A mother’s worst nightmare is not being able to protect her children. So here was a need.

One day I watched my sister pull her keys out of her bag with this dirty, broken lanyard. I looked at her and she said, I just leave it hanging out of my purse so I can always get to my keys quickly. It was as if lightning struck. So here was the idea.

My sister and I embarked on this new journey. We interviewed women, attended all types of material trade shows, shopped for industrial equipment. You name we did it. We created prototypes and sent it out to different test markets. After gathering feedback we finalized the design. We filed our own provisional patent, designed our own packaging and I hit the road cold calling. Today Charming KEYper can be found in more than 200 stores. I am proud of what we accomplished, but we need to take it to the next level. We are personally funded and have done it all ourselves. We are committed to moving our business forward where we can provide meaningful support for my family. We just need a little more help.

Thank you for listening and providing this opportunity.

    Best regards,

    Kim Mack

Bless your heart for forwarding this AMAZING opportunity. Good Luck and Congrats to you and the blessed individual whose doors will definitely be flying off the hinges:)!

  12. Congratulations! Summer babies are the best!
I would love to earn the opportunity to attend this year’s Spark and Hustle Conference to learn more tips, skills, and the experiences of those to run a successful business. I am the Cake Executive Officer of Pink Princess Pastry and I am in the process of initiating Pink Princess Chefs a non profit organization. Where I will take Atlanta youth from economically disadvantaged areas interested in the food industry to teach them the skills of Cake Decorating (avocational training program). College is not for everyone but having a trade is a must! I know that this will be an empowering experience as many people I have met at other conferences are always talking about what an amazing experience Spark and Hustle is. Thank you.

  13. First, congratulations on the up and coming new addition to your family! Not only do I want to, but I need to attend Tory Johnson’s Spark and Hustle Atlanta 2011. The impact, learning experience, networking connections, number of impressions, small business owners, bloggers…all just a few reasons why.

I missed Spark and Hustle Atlanta on last year and it affected me gravely. Finances were not in order, all of the varied avenues that I tried to take in order to find funding became dead ends, and quite honestly I could have used some ‘spark’ to match the amount of ‘hustle’ that I had put forward. Thanks to the use and viral capabilities of social media, I was able to follow many of the Twitter feeds from the speakers as well as the attendees, and those alone impacted how I viewed by business and brand at the time. I have never been ordinary in the things that I do and I am always considered unorthodox, transcendental, and layered.

Defining my brand(s) and their niche(s) cannot go without continuous education and marketing, and most important, it will not happen without the visionary…me! I love sweets and exposing others palettes to them hence, Magnolia’s Sweet Haven and because of my ongoing resilient nature to learn and teach about libations and entertainment, I started a blog with my two girlfriends Ladies n Libations. I am a go-giver, but I want to be very lucrative in the brands, products, and services that I place my name on. The opportunity, therefore, to attend Spark and Hustle Atlanta 2011 would provide a monumental path and surge of training and motivation to take each brand through the next set of ordered steps.

  14. You are a such a giver!! I’m buying my own ticket, but wanted to tell you that I think you are fabulous for paying it forward and helping someone gain a ticket they might otherwise not be able to afford. Hugs to you girlfriend…

  15. Congrats! Boy do we need to catch up! A lot has happened since we pulled into the Galleria parking lot together that day!

I am a Spark and Hustle original too and have had my ticket since the day they went on sale!

Anyone who posts here and are going to Spark and Hustle, please come over and connect at http://www.MySkinConciergeBlog.com so we can find each other at Spark and Hustle.

I promise you it is a life changing event!

If you want to chat – just let me know!

  16. Congratulations Monique! I am very happy for you and your little bundle of sweetness on the way!

Primarily I am thankful to our mutual friend who told me about GP last year and the seed she planted in my head waaaay back then. Where do I start. First of all, All the ladies are deserving but why do I feel like I should get the tickets?

From the beginning of this journey something more divine than me and my passion for speaking and motivating women be their best can even imagine. I’d been holding my passion inside for the sake of just making money and contemplated my brainstorming to passion session for several weeks- until I couldn’t take it any longer. So I called GP and did my homework like Monique suggested- even then I took a minute to ‘get it together’ with everything else going with my previous business.

Long story short, I did my homework in November 2010 and the outcome of that session was confirmation for all of the things that were on my heart to do with my life and to share with others. My life, my struggles and my triumphs. Something special happened after our session and I got busy.

Now just six months later I have retired from Corp America, Founded my own Movement – Women Recharged and have finished writing my first book entitled: Confessions of an Independent Woman: Truth, Lies & Relationships which will be released this fall.

My life is changing everyday and I could do the ugly cry at how much more full-filled because I took heed to my heart and the advice that was put inside Monique to deliver to me!!! This thing that is happening with me is so much bigger than that session- it has changed my life. Spark & Hustle is another avenue to living out my purpose on a grand scale, learning and networking with even more women! Changing me, changing lives!

    Thanks Monique!

  17. What an incredible gift. Just wanted to stop by and say I’m so happy to hear that you are blessed with a little one on the way and to boot you are passing along a life changing experience not only professionally but personally. I was lucky enough to attend the event in Orlando and if my budget allows I’m going to attend Atlanta too trust me ladies the wealth of knowledge, relationships, and internal clarity is an amazing gift. Lots of luck to everyone.

  18. Monique,
You are a blessing and will be blessed for extending a gift to others. I wish all the best in your new journey called Motherhood. My friend Tamira speaks so highly of Spark and Hustle, I am convinced that everyone with a passion and purpose should attend this conference. Innovation, influence and inspiration appear to be in abundance at this premier event.
Best wishes to whomever you present with the ticket.

  20. Michele McDonald says:

“Thought for the day: Your future is created by what you do today, not tomorrow!” between this quote on FB and the advice you just gave me at the Crave event, you have told me to take action twice today, so to prove I am listening, here is my action step for today…. Unlike some of the other women here I do not have a business. I am not looking to take my business to another level, I am trying to start one. My reasons for wanting to go to Spark and Hustle is simply to be motivated and make the connections that will help me make my product(s) available to help women. My journey to entrepreneurship has not been about building a better business, but building a better person – me. I think Spark and Hustle could be instrumental in taking me, the person not the business, to the next level.

  21. Delmar Johnson says:

Hi Monique, Congratulations! again to you and your hubby on your upcoming parenthood :)

There are some great and deserving comments on here, which actually made me question should I even submit this. Then I gave some thought to it, especially after a scripture I read that tells us to be strong and courageous; do not be afraid or discouraged…to ask for what you you want. And on that note I came to the conclusion that no one masters anything without repetitiveness. Yes, I am a Spark and Hustle Dallas alum, but that doesn’t deter the fact that I still have a BIG VISION that I’m trying to cultivate into full bloom. For me I am someone who needs to repeat a great thing because I don’t always get it right the first time. The last 5 years have literally kicked my butt in every area of my life, yet I have not let it stop me from moving forward, even when it’s only been baby steps.

So with all that said I desire to attend S&H Atlanta and be a REPEATER to get it right this time. I so wanted to be there last year at this inaugural event that I knew with every fiber of my being, would be as successful as it has been, but my pocketbook said something totally different. That same pocketbook still trying to speak lack, but just as I ignored it back in March, I’m ignoring it now and simply stepping out on faith again and asking the Universe to make a way that’s designed just for me to get there.

I’m ready to be a student again, and I’m ready to share with others about what I have learned that they may need to hear. I was once told that what I have isn’t for me but for those around me; that has stuck with me for years
and I’m ready to get it right and not let fear keep me from really getting out there serving and doing what’s inside of me to do.

Even if this is not the route faith chooses to get me there, I so appreciate you Monique in extending the offer. Thanks for reading this and best wishes to all who have been courageous to share their comments.

  22. Hey Lady!

It’s been a while ride for me this year too. So much has happened since I attended Spark and Hustle in Atlanta last year, including a total re-evaluation of my business and the decision to put my career coaching on hold and pursue another passion of mine – animals! I attended the Boston S&H a few weeks back and got it loud and clear that I needed to move forward on my new dog walking/pet sitting business. Within a few weeks of completing S&H in Boston, I had already begun to line up new clients and have just enrolled in an animal care specialist program at a local college. So, things are progressing nicely. But, I want more! I didn’t think I could afford to go back to ATL for the reunion and if you grace me with that ticket, I’ll be able to.

So there you go! Thanks a lot and I wish you all the best on the new addition to your family. I know you’re gonna make a great mom! You’re such a lovely presence and so many times when I’ve read your Tweets I’ve been inspired by you.

Thanks again and blessings your way!

  23. Tonya Cash says:

As you know, we met at last year’s Spark & Hustle event. And I’m so glad that we did. Spark & Hustle has been and continues to be a blessing to me.

I’m so excited about God’s baby blessing in your life. Wishing you all the best in health, growth of your family and in business.

I purchased a ticket to this year’s S&H for myself. I wanted to purchase a ticket for my mother as well. But financially couldn’t afford 2 tickets. My mother is a very hard working single parent that always gave to us kids before herself. She is always helping others and gives back to the community. A definite S&H trait!!

She is at retirement age, but instead of retiring and enjoying the good life. She is working 2 businesses to make ends meet. All because she chose to be a hard-working single mom, there’s no savings to just retire. I know that Spark & Hustle would be a great opportunity for her to explore her creativity and learn how to make her 2 businesses more successful.

July 22nd is my birthday…. So I will be celebrating my birthday with my Spark & Hustle friends. I would love to share this wonderful experience with my mother. To give back a little to her of the devotation she gave to me. You will see after that baby boy is born the undying bond between a mom and her first child. And I hope that you will see how your gift of a ticket means so much to a mom and daughter team trying to help each other grow their businesses.

Mom is my faithful supporter and cheerleader for my business. We are working together daily to build successful businesses in true S&H style that continues to help our entire family and give back to the community. The last few years have been extremely rough, but with God’s blessings we are hopeful. And I know continuing to learn from Spark & Hustle will help us achieve our dreams.

So I would like the gift of your ticket to go to Linda Cash, my forever faithful mother and friend.

Thank you for being so generous!! What a blessing this will be to the winner. God Bless you and your July baby boy…

    Tonya Cash

  24. I heard so much about S & H last year. I said I will go this year and then I saw the price.
price and said no way. Then I realized I need to invest in myself

  25. LaShawne says:

First and foremost, congratulations! Motherhood is a thrilling experience for which I pray for your patience, your wisdom, and tolerance for each need as well as situation! As you said your blessing becomes someone else’s blessing, which I hope to be mine!

I am a wife, mother of four, current math teacher, and personal trainer who had never heard of Spark & Hustle until one of my clients mentioned this wonderful experience for female entrepreneurs. With that said I will cut to the chase, my husband and have been building a fledging personal and sport specific training business called Myles Ahead which services those trying to get into shape, athletes, as well as new and not so new moms. We are putting our degrees, backgrounds and passions to use to serve God through helping individuals become physically fine tuned. Through our business I want people (women especially) to see themselves go beyond what they thought was physically possible with effective exercises and sensible lifestyle changes. As our business grows so do my questions such as how do we market effectively? What business model will help me maintain a client base while attracting new ones? What liability issues should I be aware of and how do I protect myself? How can I move from this being my part-time hustle to a full-time fitness ministry? More importantly how can I fully actualize the potential our business has? If chosen I believe these questions will be answered and therefore I would be able to concentrate more fully on my clients’ health and wellness. Please choose me for this exceptional opportunity.

  26. Kiasha says:

I would love to attend Spark and Hustle because of all the courage and hustle these ladies have. That type of atmosphere other than my own determination would be the reasons I need to attend this conferenc. Being able to hear stories from women just like you is heart warming and enough motivation to kick things into gear. My mother recommend “womenforhire.com” to me back in 2008 after I told her how I want to become my own boss and bring 15 business into the market. Since then I have been following Tory Johnson and all that she has to say. I started a company which in 08′ which came to a standstill, but I’m ready to get back in the game and go harder than ever. Thank you for the oppurtunity and congrats on your new baby boy, they are a blessing.

WOAH!!! this is such an awesome giveaway AND a blessing! Congratulations!!!

Well..I’m a 30 year old military spouse and mother to a two year old daughter. I have over eight years of banking and sales experience, but because I relocate often due to my husbands commitment to the United States Army, it has been very difficult getting a job and keeping one. So I have decided it would be better that I create my own source of income. I am a native of Ghana, West Africa, but I was raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Growing up, my parents always emphasized the importance of 1. Finishing School 2. Getting a stable job and 3. Getting married and starting a family. But who would have that even though all those things happened for me; that I would still be “unstable”. Being a military spouse has its own set of sacrifices, but I refuse to let me not having the career I want be one of them.

For the past 5 years I have been running my non-profit organization called The She is Me Program, Inc that exposes teen girls to positive role models that work in different careers. My passion for giving back lead me to create The Fabulous Do-Gooder Media (thefabulousdogooder.com). Through thefabulousdogooder.com I show people how to “live fabulously and give fabulously” and telling compelling stories through photography and video. I’m building a virtual community of people from all walks of life and showing them the many different ways to give back, like voluntourism, purchasing fare trade products, and the arts.

I am so hungry and eager to learn about the several ways that I can turn my passion for giving and the arts into my lifetime career. And I am ready to learn from great women who are eager to share their stories to women like me. I am ready to take everything that I will learn from Spark & Hustle to spark the mind of that person who will change the world.

thanks so much for doing this for us Monique!!

Call me crazy, Monique, but as desperately as I would love to win your gracious offer, I feel there are other candidates who need it more. I was especially touched by Aimee’s story [the Coupon Diva]. Although her message was brief, the fact that she’s a single mother without a car trumps all of my challenges. She and I don’t know each other and we have never met, but I do hope you’ll approve her application.

On a personal note, I so respect what you are doing through this. You are sowing favor into someone’s life, so I pray that it blesses you back beyond measure. Of course, you’re already being blessed in one of the most profound ways with your soon-to-be-born son. Thank you for setting such a beautiful example for all of us!

  29. Jan McBee says:

    Hi Monique,

You know we’ve talked briefly before about my aspirations to grow my wedding and event planning business and take it to the next level!
I initially started acting on my passion for weddings by planning events for family and friends, two of which had over 500 guests in attendance. After some thought and encouragement, I made the decision to become a certified wedding planner, and a member of the Association of Bridal Consultants to build a foundation for my business.

I started La Fete Weddings and Special Events in 2006 as a part-time business while working full time in the insurance industry. I am based in Metro Atlanta, Georgia, but travel for destination weddings nationally and internationally. My business has grown primarily from referrals and industry website advertising and has quickly become a second full time job.

I am ready to commit to my wedding and event planning business full-time and take it to the next level by entering the high-end wedding and event planning market.

My attendance at Spark and Hustle would be that “spark” needed kick-off for my new life!
Thank you for the opportunity! So excited for you and your hubby!! Congrats again!!

  30. Dionne says:

Blessings to you & your family! I have been wanting to go to Spark & Hustle since last year when I was stalking their twitter hashtag. I was laid off during the summer of 2008 right before my son was going off to college. I have been suffering from a chronic illness for two years & appear to be recovering from having six surgeries in less than six months. I absolutely love what I do but I believe that I need a little something extra to take my business to the next level & make my latest idea come to fruition.

  31. Eboni Green says:

    Hey Monique –

I’m all about taking chances, so here goes nothing.

I moved back to the east coast 3 months ago after a major 8 month advertising contract in Los Angeles ended. I’ve traveled to Europe running sound for recording artists, filmed a documentary on independent artists, and lived in 6 different states between the ages of 19 and 28. 2 degrees down, and pondering another…it’s still not enough.

I have a production company that provides technological and social media consulting to churches and non-profits, I’m organizing a tour based on the documentary I completed last year, and I’m launching a ministry website.

I’ve sought mentors to no avail. I’ve tried to build a team to grow with me, but I can’t find anyone with long term vision. I’ve accepted lowly positions at major companies in order to learn how to run a business properly, but the only lesson I’ve walked away with is how not to treat people.

My primary goal in life is to use every gift, talent, and skill I’ve blessed with to show people that it is possible to be successful, maintain integrity, and build character in the process. What I need is an opportunity to learn that process. I need the opportunity to build with people who have similar goals and dreams. I’d like to think that attending Spark & Hustle will provide me with that opportunity.

If not, I’ll be in Atlanta for a week in July…can I at least pick your brain for an hour?

    Thanks for your time.

First of all congratulations! What an exciting time in your life!! I have two little boys myself! Well here it goes! I have been on the fence for some time about starting a blog and building that blog to eventually promote a business. Over the past couple of years I have been working on creating beautiful and delicious baked goods that are gluten free and casein free. Both of my boys have severe good allergies and out of love and necessity Two Prince Bakery Theater was born. It took me several years to perfect my recipes and make a product that is allergen free without compromising taste or beauty. I now specialize in allergen free childrens parties. I’m very passionate about this and in only a couple of months I have over 400 combined followers on facebook and blogger. I am a regular blog contributor for a very popular blog.
